It was a very hard decision for me to make. Considering I have a lot to leave behind, my family, my friends, my career, my car, my botique, my house, my agents and most of all, my 7 year old kid. I knew it was a choice I have to make and a choice I shouldn't regret. It took me almost more than 5 years to decide and finally took the leap. However, rather than think about the big decision, I had a dialogue with myself out loud. It activates my brain in a way that allows me to process info more clearly.
As I passed thru Donnie's station today, I saw an article that partly I could say, I've manage to do prior to me deciding on making the big choice. Thanks to Cosmo, here's a few tips to follow for you to make a choice you'll never regret…
1. Go With Your Gut Instinct
In making simple choices, it pays to be rational. Bit when it comes to bigger ones - you're better off listening to your instincts. If you already weigh your pros and cons, let your snap judgement be the tiebreaker and go with what just feels right. Over the year, my instinct never fails me, so I am confident that this life changing decision I made definitely should be something I'd stick to and should never regret.
2. Get into a Stress-Free State
We tend to act rashly when were nervous or upset. Anxiety not only makes it more difficult to settle on something but also actually makes you more likely to come to the wrong conclusion. the day before December 20, 2009, I spent wonderful vacation with a friend down South in Batangas. Away from all the busy world in Manila, where stress and pressure doesn't exists. I tried to release all tension and stress before I finally decided that, YES.. I am leaving.
3. Talk it over with a Select Few
Chat about your predicament with your close friends, your Mom or your Sister, or your Bestfriend or whoever you trust to give an honest opinion. Thanks to my good friend ( you know who you are ) for giving me all the Pro's and Con's and for inspiring me to take the leap and take another challenging step in my life.
4. But avoid discussing it with everyone
Soliciting too many opinions -- especially from people who don't know you that well -- can leave you with lots of conflicting advice. Before seeking for someone's opinion, ask yourself if the person is really in a position to know what's best for you. If the answer is no, keep it to yourself.
5. Blow Off Those Who Are Pressuring You.
Distance yourself from the person pressuring you while you sort out your thoughts or stay away from those that may stop you and hinder you from following your dreams and desire.
6. Consider the Long Term Consequences
Some decisions make short term sense, but in the long run can be disastrous. A good rule of thumb: Play out each possible scenario in your mind and consider the outcome before making a controversial move. Always think about … After 5 years? After 10 years?
7. Put down the Tequila
Cocktails and alcohol make it easier to act., though alcohol can relax you while you're agonizing over a choice, more than that can cloud your judgement. So make sure when you decide and make a choice, ensure that you're not drunk and you're in a proper state of mind.
8. Keep In Mind That You Can't Always Use The Past To Predict The Future
It's important not to rely simply on experience. In our rapidly changing world, assess each new opportunity with a fresh mindset. What happens in the past stays in your past and learn from it. Never use it to predict whats gonna happen next.
9. Sleep On it
But Just for One Night - Unconscious deliberation can help you analyze your options and come to a conclusion.
10. Don't leave it Up to Chance
It can be dangerous to make a major, life-changing choice based on what your horoscope instruct you to do. yes, it's definitely fun to let these things influence small decisions , but the bigger stuff should not be left up to the stars. Being a true blooded Gemini, I often believe that my horoscope plays a very special part on my decisions day by day. But when making big decisions like this… My horoscope and Me, being a Gemini doesn't have anything to do with it.
Now, before deciding to do anything. Try these 10 steps and see where it concludes your decision. My fate depends on the choices I make today. Maybe, at one point to another, I may have screwed up and hurt myself but then again, there isn't any regrets in my thoughts and in my heart for I know, before I come up to any decision… I've think about it more than a hundred times and ready to suffer and face the consequences.
Sabi nga ni Bob Ong …
Kahit kelan walang maling desisyon, nagiging mali lamang ito kapag hindi napapanindigan.
